Favorites to Acquire the 2019 Camping World 400
Martin Truex Jr..
Martin Truex Jr. is the first favorite this time around.
The 2017 winner is arguably the quickest driver at the moment.
Truex had a rough beginning in 2019 after his move to Joe Gibbs Racing.
But today he is definitely back on form.
He’s fresh off a series-leading fourth win , his third career victory at Sonoma.
Truex is second in the all time winners record at Chicago with just two triumphs.
He left back-to-back trips to victory lane in 2016 and 2017.
The 2017 winner is currently fifth in points with four wins, seven top 5 and ten top 10 in 16 races.
Kyle Busch
Defending race winner Kyle Busch is also a two-time winner at Chicago.
Busch came along with a crazy final lap, punting away Kyle Larson and holding off brother Kurt Busch.
The result ended a decade-long drought in the track.
The 2015 champion has just missed out on the top 10 after in the last seven races in Chicagoland.
He is also a four-time pole winner there, the absolute most from any track for him.
Busch started from the pole in 3 of the past five races at the Illinois track.
Toyota and Joe Gibbs Racing’s dominance in the monitor is yet another important factor.
Considering that the Gen 6 introduction, the group has won all but one race at Chicago.
Busch is second in points with four wins, ten best 5 and 15 top 10 finishes in 16 starts.
Brad Keselowski
Brad Keselowski is the sole non-Toyota driver to have won at Chicagoland Speedway because 2013.
Chicago is, mathematically, his very best track.
Keselowski has a career average end of 9.2 in nine starts, the best at the track’s history.
He’s also a two-time winner there, having done so in 2012 and 2014.
The 2012 winner is fifth in points with three wins, six top 5 and eight top 10 finishes in 16 starts.
Outside Picks for the 2019 Camping World 300
Kevin Harvick
Kevin Harvick is still searching for his first win of 2019.
Despite being exceptionally consistent this year, this has become his worst start to a year with Stewart-Haas.
While Harvick is also a two-time winner in Chicago, it’s been quite a while since his last triumph there.
He made back-to-back trips to victory lane in 2001 and 2002, the first two races at the track’s history.
Harvick is the all-time leader in top 5s at Chicago, with ten in 18 starts.
The Stewart-Haas driver finished third in the last two races at the track.
The recent drought, however, has made the 2014 winner into a reliable pick.
Harvick is currently third in points with five top 5 along with 11 top 10 finishes in 16 races.
Denny Hamlin
Denny Hamlin’s kind at Chicago has seen a substantial improvement in recent decades.
He has five straight top 10 finishes after just scoring two in his first eight starts at the track.
Hamlin won the race 2015, which was also his first top 5 in Chicago.
The Joe Gibbs driver got off to a fantastic beginning in 2019, winning the Daytona 500.
But 11 has witnessed a substantial drop in performance in recent races.
Hamlin had a worst finish of 11 in the first nine races of this year.
He has only scored one top 5 along with 2 top 10 finishes since then.
With 2 wins, seven top ten and 5 top 10 results in 16 races, Hamlin is in points.
Aric Almirola
A driver that might be a surprise winner that this weekend is Aric Almirola.
The Stewart-Haas racer led the most laps last season and won the first phase, but ended down in 25th.
He’s been strong this season and will be the second-best among Stewart-Haas drivers in the standings.
Almirola is now 11th in points with one top 5 and eight top 10 finishes in 16 starts.
He had seven consecutive top 10 results at the first eight races, but has just scored two since then.
