The Atlantic Club??sits alone at the end of the Boardwalk.
I sometimes stroll by and begin recalling those weekends that are long-ago in Atlantic City.
The??Hilton??(among several former titles for the house ) was my destination of choice. Those dishes in The Oaks and Peregrines are difficult to overlook.
I still recall my brief meeting with the late James Gandolfini??(aka??Tony Soprano) along with the cast from the hit HBO??show The Sopranos. This was 2006 and the Atlantic Club, together with most of the resort town, enjoyed a few years of stability.
The Club was your basic casino hotel with slots and table games, and it provided an escape from the audiences that may easily overwhelm the beaches and boardwalk additional north. Especially in the summermonths.
Nowadays, its best??known??for being the first of four Atlantic City casinos to close in 2014.
But Atlantic Clubs fate could change for the better.
The Associated Press reported that Atlantic Club had found a new proprietor. Colosseo Atlantic City Inc., a New York City-based investment and building company,??bought it in TJM Properties. The sale price was not disclosed.
The news can make me wonder whether that may finally be the deal that attracts back the Atlantic Club , although its not the casino left in AC.
And when that does happen, will the reborn property work in Atlantic City?
After several unsuccessful attempts to market the 800-room property, it appears like TJM (operator and owner of the Claridge Hotel) eventually found a suitable buyer.
Weve made every effort to find a buyer who might realize the capacity of this Atlantic Club Casino Hotel, said??Matt Bradley, among the heads of development and operations for both TJM who handled the sale.
The owner did not elaborate on certain plans. But, letting the resort sit vacant for the following five years does not seem to be at the cards.

Rummy Pandit, executive director of the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gambling, Hospitality and Tourism at??Stockton University, seemed hopeful regarding the Atlantic Club sale.
Locating a buyer for one of Atlantic Citys lowest properties has not gone smoothly. A few other prices that were proposed were made people but did not pan out for one reason or the other.

Additionally, it does not help that the exterior of the building is deteriorating. Even the 2018 openings of Ocean Casino and Hard Rock turned the spotlight off from whatever could have occurred with Atlantic Club.
If and when the house does reopen, there is a chance The Atlantic Club sign will no longer be about the building.
Simply call it the swap onto a list of names.
Former??Las Vegas??casino mogul??Steve Wynn??opened the land as the Golden Nugget??back. Some may even remember the commercials featuring Frank Sinatra:
Wynn ended up selling the house. It had a collection of name and ownership changes.
Following the land closed on Jan. 13, 2014,??Caesars Entertainment??and??Tropicana Entertainment??bought it. The sale needed to be approved by a federal bankruptcy court judge.
Later that year ownership was obtained by TJM Properties.
For the very first time because 2014, it is looking like there might be hope for The Atlantic Club (or whatever they decide to call it).
And we are not speaking about it being used to film scenes for Zack Snyders upcoming Army of the movie.??
But details about variety of rooms the redesign, and comforts have to be announced. That will make me wait a little if I will be fair. After all, most of us waited to Revel for years for Glenn Straub.
Is it will be a non-gaming resort because of a deed restriction. And if this project come to fruition, Stockton University people could take whole advantage of their close proximity.
With regards to exactly everything makes sense for the owner and customers, Pandit said a facility??concept could be somewhat win-win.
Something which is part condominium and part hotel could allow residents to gain access to the restaurants, gym and spa, valet parking, and room service offerings.??
As the Hilton did, will it create new memories? Probably not.
However, for Atlantic City, in case it is going to set up itself as much more of a destination, bringing back vacant hotels is a good start. No one likes an eye-sore.
