The Atlantic Club??sits all alone at the south end of the Boardwalk.
I begin recalling these long-ago weekends in Atlantic City and occasionally stroll by.
The??Hilton??(among several former titles for the property) was my destination of choice. Those dinners in Peregrines and The Oaks are tough to forget.
I still remember my brief meeting with the late James Gandolfini??(aka??Tony Soprano) along with the cast in the hit HBO??series The Sopranos. This was 2006 and the near future Atlantic Club, along with the majority of the resort city, enjoyed a couple of years of equilibrium.
The Club was the basic casino hotel with table and slots games, and it provided an escape from the crowds that might conquer boardwalk and the beaches north. Especially in the summermonths.
Unfortunately today, its best??known to close in 2014.
But the destiny of Atlantic Club could change for the better.
The Associated Press reported that a new proprietor had been discovered by Atlantic Club. Colosseo Atlantic City Inc., a New York City-based investment and construction company,??bought it from TJM Properties. The sale price was not disclosed.
Its not the casino but the news will make me wonder if that may be the bargain that attracts back the Atlantic Club .
And when this does happen, will the property work well in Atlantic City?
After several failed attempts to sell the 800-room property, it looks like TJM (owner and operator of the Claridge Hotel) finally found a suitable buyer.
We have made every effort to discover a buyer who might realize the potential of The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel, said??Matt Bradley, one of the heads of development and operations for both TJM who managed the purchase.
The owner did not elaborate on certain plans. But, allowing the resort sit vacant for the following five years will not seem to be at the cards.

But details about variety of chambers, the redesign, and amenities have to be announced. That will make me hesitate a bit if Im going to be honest. After all, we waited for years for Glenn Straub.
The 1 thing we do know is it will be a hotel because of a deed restriction. And if this project come to fruition, Stockton University visitors may take advantage of their near proximity.
With regards to everything makes sense for the owner and clients, Pandit explained a facility??concept could be quite win-win.
Something which is part condominium and a part hotel could allow residents to gain access to restaurants, health club and spa, valet parking, and area service offerings.??
Since the Hilton did, will it produce memories? Probably not.
But for Atlantic City, though it is going to establish itself as more of a destination that is year-round, bringing back vacant resorts to existence is a terrific start. Nobody likes an eye-sore.
