Danny Cowley describes Huddersfield as ‘perfect opportunity’

Danny Cowley says Huddersfield signifies the”perfect opportunity” for his second step in direction and insists the”simple” option will have been to stay at Lincoln.
The 40-year-old signed a bargain together with assistant boss Nicky and his brother in the John Smith’s Stadium to replace former head coach Jan Siewert in the fighting Championship club on Monday.
Cowley led Lincoln and will bid to detain Huddersfield form, with the Terriers second from bottom in the league.
“You take a look at the current status in the Championship and esteem that it has been a really difficult time for the soccer club but that actually excites me because we enjoy a battle,” said Cowley.
“We always felt that the next move would need to be the perfect opportunity and we view this as being the perfect opportunity. We feel we can add value .
“The opportunity to function as managers instead of head trainer is very important to us because that’s how we’ve always functioned. It is always about construction.”
Huddersfield, who have been relegated from the Premier League last season, haven’t won 17 games in all competitions and have been beaten by Lincoln at Carabao Cup a month.
Cowley turned down the chance about the vacancy but took the job because of the assurance the brothers could have a hands-on role in shaping the development of the club.
“I look at the task in front of us and can’t wait to get started,” Cowley added.
“We are interested in being contested. I wish to live life. The alternative could have been to remain at Lincoln, a club we felt a connection with and adored.
“It’d have been a good deal easier to remain but we are not interested in simple decisions. We wish to examine ourselves.”
Cowley will start his Huddersfield tenure against Sheffield Wednesday, who’ll have Gary Monk in the dugout on Sunday, for the first time – live on Sky Sports.
“The short term objectives are to find a way to play winning football but also for us it has got to be a long-term project,” Cowley said.
“Winning on Saturday isn’t sufficient for me. It’s about winning on winning. We are clear about the vision to Huddersfield Town. We know where we want to go.”
Cowley added that his brother along with he very much come as a set, having worked together earlier Lincoln at Concord and Braintree.
“We are used to operating together,” he said. “We’ve lived our lives in each others’ pockets. We’re personalities but are aligned on the procedures. Most importantly we have hope.”
