Roger Federer hopeful of playing at Olympics in Tokyo

Roger Federer says he hopes to compete at Tokyo 2020 in which he’s currently dreaming about winning his first Olympic gold medal.
Federer missed the Rio Olympics for a knee injury, but now the 38-year-old is already making plans for next year.
The Swiss, who won Olympic gold in men’s doubles using Stan Wawrinka, has created programs up and is currently weighing up the option of whether or not to play Tokyo.
“I am very excited about the prospect of maybe playing the Olympic Games, but I’m not quite sure yet,” confessed Federer.
“My preparation goes until Wimbledon next year which is a couple of weeks prior to the Olympics, so I think I will be deciding about the Olympic Games in the upcoming few months, hopefully another month or so.
“It has been such a special event for me over the years. My wife in 2000 carrying the flag in Beijing and Athens to the Olympic delegation which was a fantasy for me personally and me come true.
“Winning doubles gold with Stan Wawrinka in Beijing then getting the silver in London, in Wimbledon. So for me, maybe to be a part of it would be fantastic, especially after missing the last edition in Rio because of a knee injury, but I will just have to see how my family is doing, the way my body is performing, then if all is green and I truly feel it’s the ideal thing to do, then I’ll play it, otherwise I’ll bypass it but it would definitely be a wonderful challenge, I acknowledge.”
Federer is now before the Laver Cup, in which Europe extends up from the rest of the world’s third edition.
