Gareth Southgate: England must cut out individual mistakes after ‘bizarre’ Kosovo encounter

Gareth Southgate has warned his England players they need to eliminate the individual mistakes after their”bizarre” experience with Kosovo.
A revealing from the men of Southgate was sufficient to repel a courageous Kosovo 5-3 in a pulsating Qualifier in St Mary’s.
England responded emphatically, scoring five goals in the opening 45 minutes, but two defensive lapses allowed their plucky opponents a way back after dropping behind to Valon Berisha.
The England manager praised the capacity of his team but conceded they need to eliminate the mistakes at the back.
“It was weird,” he explained.
“The outstanding features and the poor features are apparent to everyone. We left bad person mistakes and a bad start but showed composure to recover from these mistakes. Our use of the ball in the first half has been excellent.”
He added on Sky Sports News:”The game should really be completed at half-time, needless to say, but if teams begin to lose leads then there is another feel about the scene as well as the opposition have nothing to lose so can go for this, and we just have ourselves to blame because of this. They have been poor mistakes, not necessarily issues for us but poor errors and decisions.
“It put Kosovo back into the game and at 5-3 we’d some protracted ownership and really calmed down the game. A passing move has been that resulted in the punishment, which had been our chance to actually put the game to bed. Regrettably, we did not take this time, but we managed to observe the game out reasonably well from there.”
It was a really Jekyll-and-Hyde-like performance from the men of Southgate who had been sometimes scintillating going forward in the period before the break when havoc was generated by Jadon and Sterling Sancho as England.
Kosovo coach Bernard Challandes hailed Sterling as”one of the finest on the planet” after his performance while Sancho took his opportunity with open arms, netting his first international objectives.
Southgate had high praise for them .
He said:”The forward play was exceptional occasionally…Sterling’s performances have been of the maximum level. He had been unstoppable. His awareness of where defenders have been and his capacity to ride challenges, his vision and desire to put in on target. I could not talk highly enough of him.
Southgate added on Sancho:”We know we’ve got such excellent attacking ability. We were really pleased with Marcus [Rashford] at the weekend. Jadon is a kind of player. He and he showed his equilibrium and his ability to conquer people in the standing 16, respectively. He works very tough for the group without the ball, which is important to how we play, and he was rewarded with his first targets for England that’s a special moment for him”
