With the exception of a solo shot off of Elvis Andrus bat, the Rangers fell 6-1 for their hosts and did small offensively on Thursday. Texas is currently 2-3 vs the White Sox but may hope to even the season series tonight when they send Lance Lynn (14-8, 3.60 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) to the mound. The will continue to keep his fingers crossed that his offense provides run support than they have over his last 3 starts in which a four runs have been plated by his team and leads the group. Lynn has faced the White Sox only once this season and, despite a performance in which he surrendered five runs on six hits over seven innings of work, he enrolled the win from Texas 6-5 victory.
Chicago is still really hoping to keep their modest two-game winning streak alive when rookie Dylan Cease (2-6, 5.93 ERA, 1.57 WHIP) creates his ninth start of the season. The 23-year-old from Milton, Georgia has permitted at least three runs in eight of his nine starts, and his final outing was more of the same as he surrendered five runs on seven hits over five innings of work in a 9-2 loss to the Angels at Anaheim. Cease was only marginally better in the home with a 1-3 mark and also a 5.48 ERA versus an identical 1-3 record in the street with a 6.43 ERA.
The MLB odds are currently favoring the visitors in this matchup and its everything to do with all the pitchers. Lance Lynn was an upper-echelon pitcher throughout his 14 wins this year could be and the majority of his career if not for a dearth of run support. Conversely, Chicagos rookie righty is fighting to find his way in the big-league level and it is a fairly fair assumption that Texas director Chris Woodward will fulfill his lineup with lefties, who are hitting the rookie in a .338 clip, and will seem to go long on Discontinue whos enabled at least one home run in each of his eight starts this year.
Below are trends favoring the Rangers and moving in this matchup against the White Sox. In addition, Chicago is ranked 27th amongst 30 teams in runs along with a struggling rookie on the hill they are not constructed to play such as Texas. Lets place the -134 and rear night, the Rangers within our MLB picks on Friday.
Last rating: Rangers 6 — White Sox 3
