Accelerate Romps In Pacific Classic, Pavel takes second

When coach John Sadler gave Joel Rosario directions on riding Accelerate at The TVG Pacific Classic in The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, he said that Joel must”ride him just like he was the best horse in the race”
And Rosario certainly did.
After breaking the leaders were patiently tracked by Rosario and settled back in third. But entering the turn, he understood the son of Lookin in Lucky was loaded and let him roll.
Accelerate surged by pacesetter Roman Rosso and opened to a magnificent 12-1/2 length romp in the Grade 1, $ 1 million event at will. Pavel made a bid at the lane but had to settle for second. Prime Attraction hung on for Roman Rosso and third party.
With his next Grade 1 victory of this season, Accelerate stamped himself as king of the west coast and improved his record to 8-5-5 from 20 begins and today boasts $2.3 million in earnings. As the 2/5 preferred, Accelerate paid $2.80 to win and also covered the 1-1/4 mile distance in a final period of 2:01.83 on a course labeled as quickly.
This was the first Pacific Classic win for Sadler and that he had been worried about Rosario. After rider Victor Espinoza had been hurt in a training accident on July 22, rosario picked up the mount. Espinoza fractured a vertebra in his neck and will be sidelined indefinitely. Sadler’s concerns were unfounded, as Rosario wound up winning four races on the card and rode Accelerate to perfection.
Hronis Racing’s Accelerate became the third horse to win The Gold Cup The Santa Anita Handicap and The Pacific Classic joining Game On Dude and Lava Man’s Fantastic company. Bred in Kentucky, Accelerate had a banner 2018 season and was a 380,000 purchase at the Keeneland September sale, compiling 4 wins out of 5 efforts. Accelerate earned every bit of the all expense paid ticket to The Breeders’ Cup Classic at Churchill Downs on Nov. 3.
