(CNN) — American adolescent Amanda Anisimova has withdrawn in the US Open after the unexpected death of her dad and trainer Konstantin Anisimov.
This month one of the tennis players on the planet — she became the youngest girl to achieve the French Open semifinals for 13 years this season — that the 17-year-old Anisimova was expected to take part in her home grand slam.
“We are amazed and stunned by the unexpected departure of our dad,” read an announcement in the Anisimova family. “We appreciate the outpouring of support and love in this tough period and ask you to respect our privacy. Thank you.”

Anisimov had transferred to the US with his wife Olga and eldest daughter Maria from Moscow in 1998. Amanda was born in New Jersey three decades later, less than two weeks prior to the September 11 terror strikes.

Showing signs of genius in 2018, Anisimova broke this year by reaching the final 16 in the Australian Open, before loving her streak at Roland Garros. She is the planet No. 24 at the WTA rankings.
Following the dreadful news of Monday, the tennis world expressed its sympathy for the Anisimova household, with Nick Kyrgios and Maria Sharapova tweeting messages of support.

In addition, her fellow American adolescent Cori”Coco” Gauff tweeted”deepest condolences to the Anisimova family in this tragic time.”
The US Open starts on August 26.
