Directors have shared their perspectives and had their say on whether Gareth Southgate would have been justified in permitting his players to roam off the pitch in Sofia.
Jurgen Klopp:We didnt talk about it, and the players didnt come up with it. I thought they dealt very well with this circumstance. After it was spoken about by everybody, it was like there wasnt any game. Truly there was a match, and the players showed a response that is sensational on the pitch. You can make them endure in the perfect way and need to reveal the reaction that is right.
At the end its not important who strikes , its important who laughs and it was obviously the England players. There was no impact on the performance and the rest we do not need to talk [about], its disgusting. Nobody wants to hear that and watch that.
Steven Gerrard:I was very proud. I thought they managed themselves ever so well, Harry Kane showed leadership and Gareth . It was disgusting, it had been a disgrace. I believed they did the ideal thing staying and winning the game and proving a point that way. But I also believed they managed the routine and their responsibilities out there amazingly well.
For an Englishman and an ex-player I was ever so pleased. Ive been in the place myself with Rhian Brewster together with Liverpool U19s and I feel that the important thing at the time is to hear both players and everything they would like to perform and respond from that point.
Pep Guardiola:I believe UEFA created a step forward. The game stopped two times or three occasions. Fight daily with this situation. Everything we are doing or going to do to help eradicate it is welcome. Supervisor and the players arent alone, everybody else is concerned. Whatever we decide, we could perform.
Brendan Rodgers:I believed Gareth and his team and players were wonderful. They have made it crystal clear that there is going to become a stance now. We have not seen them put in position although we have heard about sanctions. In this society, players must never need to be subjected to this.
I was pleased watching themwhen I saw a bunch of young men fighting to get their team-mates that were being abused. I felt pleased watching it that this might be the beginning of a position since we are attempting to eliminate [it]. That may be the beginning. It is something which we cant stand for.
Frank Lampard on his experience:I travelled with England in certain parts of Europe and believed exactly what we all felt, and possibly didnt talk about sufficient. I believe the governing body and the businesses need to earn a big thing, I dont think individual players ought to really be relied on to be earning steps.
How England dealt with it, from manager through personnel through players was something really excellent to see. Its not that the end of the story but I think that it shows that we are moving in the ideal direction and it has to carry on.
Eddie Howe:Personally I dont believe Id have completed [taken players from their pitch]. I think performing and demonstrating and playing the game your best abilities is the right approach to answer any sort of opinions. I believe that the players wish to play with and I think that showed.
It is just my opinion but I do not think you want to see the game stopped and practically permit that vile abuse to triumph, but its a big subject of conversation and everybody is going to have a different view, that is only my thoughts.
Roy Hodgson:I thought they were all brilliant. I believed they did everything right. I dont know if anything more would have been obtained by them coming from the pitch. When folks are working to upset you like this by racially abusing you, in some ways you can not get a much better way than England beating them as if they did, but I still do not think there could have been any more publicity
Nuno Espirito Santo:I believe in soccer, the institutions and authorities must do everything that they can to completely eliminate racism, but it is a societal issue. But with footballs durability and strength, I believe all of the items we can do to stop it, I support. Until the moment us as individuals do not stop it, it will continue. I hope and truly believe together with all the upcoming generations itll be finished.
Graham Potter:I did not watch the match to be fair but pretty much like everybody else [I believe ] it is sad, very sad. It is something that we do not need to see of course although unfortunately its a society issue as much as its a football problem. And of course as a club are wholly supportive of any effort to educate and be sure we do not have to witness those sort of occasions.
Ralph Hasenhuttl:I think that its absolutely the perfect thing to demonstrate a very hard shoulder for racism. If fans show this habit it is the only means to stop it I believe is to be as tough as you can against countries nightclubs or teams against. Dont deny it, dont look away, look It in the eye and say,it is not alright, we must change it. As it is a platform where you could demonstrate this and we have to be quite rigorous and very hard to keep this from the scene.
Mauricio Pochettino talking Harry Kanes conduct as captain in Sofia:Of course when youre on the touchline that you want to comprehend the players always have rights and it is hard to maintain their position, understand how they feel when they endure abuse similar to this. That is why I will always support my own players.
Harry handled everything I need to congratulate him. He was calm, the scenario was under control. He demonstrated great maturity in these situations which arent always easy to control.
Dean Smith praised Tyrone Mings for making his England debut in these challenging circumstances:Hes come back and trained, got on with things as normal and not really said a lot about it. I can only sing his praises. As soon as we talk to them and look at players and go we understand what theyre likely to bring football-wise, but its that personality, character that youre seeking to learn about. JT and me proceeded to meet with him and he impressed . Having met with him, brought him here and signed him we have seen him daily and it doesnt surprise me how he handled the situation. He is articulate, intelligent and quite a great human being as well.
