The NHL is put up using a six game slate on Friday night. It’ll be a little bit of a night in front of a Saturday of baseball. One of the games up for Friday will probably be between the Dallas Stars and the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Stars have yet to be able to find a means to get it moving and will try again with a win on the road against Pittsburgh. This game will begin at around 7:00 PM Eastern time on ESPN+.
Dallas has been among the sudden starts into the NHL season as they’ve fallen to 1-6-1, that includes them in place of the Central Division. The Stars have lost four games in a row. Dallas was hailed as an early season favorite to make it to the Stanley Cup, however if they wish to prevent they need to acquire on a roll. The Stars are a team and I think that they will get it moving in the early stages of the year.
Since they are sitting in second position of the Metropolitan Division with a 5-2 24, the Penguins have been off. Pittsburgh has won their past four games following a 1-2 start. They have used their depth, although the Penguins are hit with a few injuries to start this year out. Pittsburgh will look to extend their winning streak with another victory over the fighting Stars.
Both of these teams are at sections of the standings, however I don’t think this is a good representation of the way these 2 teams are, as it is early on in the season. Dallas has the ability to compete with teams in the NHL, they just need to get their chemistry. I think if they win on Friday 19, that the Stars could use this as a major momentum builder.
The Stars and the Penguins fulfilled two annually. The game was hosted by Pittsburgh. While Casey DeSmith ceased 18 of the 19 shots he faced, sidney Crosby had a three point night. Pittsburgh finished the match out with a 5-1 win. The second game was a matchup. Jared McCann scored his second goal of the match in the third period to give the Penguins a win. 29 of 30 shots stopped in the win.
The Stars have dropped four matchups in a row against Buffalo Sabres, Washington Capitals, the Calgary Flames, along with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Dallas’s only win over the season has come on the street from the Capitals. Alexander Radulov, tyler Seguin, along with Jamie Benn have combined for 10 points through eight matches after finishing top three in points last season, so far.
Pittsburgh has been hot as of late, winning four games in a row against the Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild, Winnipeg Jets, along with the Colorado Avalanche. The Penguins scored seven goals in these wins to the Wild and the Jets. Sidney Crosby leads the team in points with four goals and eight assists. Jake Guentzel has got the team lead in goals with five. Twenty players have issues on this group.
Dallas has not managed to acquire their power play at all this year. The Stars have been shut down on 23 of the 24 power play chances, for a disappointing 4.2 percentage. Dallas’s penalty kill has been around the league average, quitting 80.7 percent of the electricity plays them. The Stars have ceased 25 of the 31 power plays this year.
The Penguins have been performing much better on special teams. Pittsburgh has 6 goals to 26 power play opportunities, which provides them even a 23.1 power play percent. The Penguins have killed off 14 of 17 power plays them, which includes made Pittsburgh a kill percentage of 82.4 percent.
The Stars have fought on the power play this season, which will be a tough game because the Penguins are not a group, to flip that around. Dallas will need to set a limit on the amount of power play opportunities they provide to Pittsburgh because the Penguins power play is harmful. If the Stars can neutralize Pittsburgh’s power play add a couple man advantage goals themselves, it would help them pull off the upset.
I think that Ben Bishop will be the starting goalie for the Stars on Friday night. Bishop has started the season. He’s a save percentage of .899 along with a GAA of 2.84. Bishop is coming off a Vezina Trophy nomination last season because he had a .934 save percentage and a 1.98 GAA. Dallas requires Bishop to come back to this kind.
Matt Murray is expected to get the nod. Murray has started the season with a record in his six starts. In those starts, he’s put up a .914 save percentage and a GAA of 2.66. Last year, Murray ended with a list of 29-14-6 using a save percentage of .919 plus a 2.69 GAA.
Murray has been off to the start that year, although Both of these goalies are starters. Bishop put up numbers last season, but has fought just to start out this year. If Bishop can have a great start on Friday night I think that Dallas is going to have the ability to pull off the upset.
I feel that the Stars have a fantastic chance to end the Penguins winning streak with an upset on Friday night. I think that Dallas will get things going and I think they will elevate their play because of this particular matchup. If the Stars resolve Murray ancient and will keep up on specific teams, they could ride it .
BetOnline has Pittsburgh. This suggests that the Penguins will win this game around 57.5 percent of the moment. With how this season has been started by Dallas, these chances make sense, however I think the Stars have a better opportunity then these chances imply. There’s a lot of value in Dallas finish their losing streak, which makes them my pick of the evening.
