Paul Casey won his first European Tour title at the Porsche European Open for five years with a one-stroke victory.
Casey took a six-under 66 to finish before Scotland’s Bob MacIntyre, Matthias Schwab and German Bernd Ritthammer of Austria.
It was a victory for the 42-year-old of 2019 after victory in the Valspar Championship at the PGA Tour.
As he seeks his win it turned out to be a third minute of this year for MacIntyre, 23.
Casey started the final round one shot behind joint leaders MacIntyre and Ritthammer, however he made a perfect round of not a single bogey and six birdies.
Schwab had finished 13-under, but was jeopardized by Casey’s birdies at 16 and 17, though the English golfer left the door shut since he would only three-putt to get a par five in the last.
The goal of 14 under of casey was too much for Ritthammer and MacIntyre, who left handed short on the green to induce a play-off.
The Englishman, a four-time Ryder Cup participant, celebrated his first win in Europe since the 2014 KLM Open from the Netherlands.
“This is an incredibly prestigious championship,” Casey told Sky Sports. “I’m over the moon to be European Open champion.”
