Gregor Townsend concerned by Scotland’s mounting injury list

Gregor Townsend was left after affirming that he’s five World Cup harm concerns counting the cost of his side’s six-try victory over Georgia.
The most worries centre around flanker Jamie Ritchie that had been taken to hospital using a wound that is profound following the Dark Blues’ send-off battle at Murrayfield.
Full-back Blair Kinghorn and lock Ben Toolis both suffered head collapses which will require concussion checks while Blade Thomson and Jonny Gray – producing his first run out of their warm-up show – are also nursing hamstring injuries.
Together with his negative due to fly out to Japan on Monday and more than just a fortnight to go until their opener with Ireland in Yokohama on September 22, Townsend admitted he is concerned.
The Scotland head coach explained:”Jamie Ritchie went off with a facial injury. He will be going to the hospital tonight to find out the seriousness of that. That is our most concerning injury as he had to be replaced with a suspected facial accident. We hope it’s not anything that can keep him.
“Two players had to be removed due to concussion. Blair Kinghorn had a cut on the back of his head and had symptoms when he was getting straightened. He’ll undergo the protocols. Toolis picked up a head injury which has been taken out of the field of play.
“Blade Thomson felt his hamstring tightening his was more precautionary since was Jonny Gray who’d just return from a hamstring injury.
“Clearly the issue is if any will miss being on the airplane. Jamie is the most and we hope it is good news if he comes back in his hospital visit later tonight. It was the impact on his face.”
Since the powerhouse Georgians got the upper hand at the 17, scotland stuttered during the first half.
But they upped their tempo and ran out comfortable winners.
Townsend added:”It was not so good in the first half and a disrupted next half. We adapted well and performed in the previous 15 minutes with a great deal of energy. In the first half we looked good Sometimes we set pace and got underneath the defence that was Georgian.
“We have a couple of good attempts but we did not hold on to the ball enough. We gave Georgia possession too easily, occasionally throughout penalties and ill-disciplinethrough not appearing after the ball connected.
“We adapted very well to needing to put three different people to the next row in the second half. We scrummed with seven guys for the previous ten minutes and did really well. The players got together and discovered a means to have a comfortable win in the end.”
