Laurens is much far more likely to try to defend her Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes name than head to the Prix de la Foret to France this weekend.
Owner John Dance stresses the travel and the prospect of a draw in a field simply tip the scales in Newmarket’s favour.
Laurens, An Group One winner has managed to get her head in front once this season from the Prix Rothschild – when fell to seven furlongs but she had been beaten just a whisker.
Karl Burke celebrity raced to determine if she’d have the speed for the Foret, and Dance is in no doubt she would have.
But given her form in Newmarket – her only defeat came when second from the Guineas – she’s likely to stay closer to home.
“Karl is pretty keen to visit Newmarket. I’m unsure what might persuade him against it in this stage – he looks pretty keen about it,” said Dance.
“Karl’s ideas are there is less travel involved, she has got a wonderful record at Newmarket and it’ll be less draw dependent in a smaller field.
“You could say her personal best was really in the York race over seven, giving a lot of cash away, but then it had been at the Sun Chariot last calendar year.”
Jockey PJ McDonald confirmed on Tuesday that he expects to return in time with this weekend, following his collapse at Wolverhampton the previous day.
Dance added:”Hopefully PJ is going to be matched to ride her we’ve got our fingers crossed.
“I believe over seven to softish ground she would put up her very best performance yet – but would only happen if she bounced back to form anyway, so we are going to have to determine how we proceed.”
