Mercedes’ advisor Aldo Costa to leave F1 world champions

Aldo Costa, one of the main characters behind Mercedes’ victory, will leave the team, it has been declared.
Costa, who had been technology manager this year, moving into a technical advisory function, will leave the entire world champions at the end of September to combine Italian producer Dallara.
“Ever since stepping back in my role as technology director, I have enjoyed encouraging the team during this year and also have been looking for my next challenge beyond Formula 1,” he explained.
“After many years working in the pinnacle of our sport, I am eager to have the ability to contribute some of what I have discovered to other racing series and to high-performance automotive jobs outside racing.
“Among my personal passions is to mentor and develop young gift, and it’ll be a focus for me personally to help attract and develop the upcoming generations of engineering talent at Dallara in the years ahead.”
Costa became director of this group before leaving for Ferrari and joined minnows Minardi at 1988.
He spent 16 years in Italy, and has been among the major architects behind the dominatio, in addition to being designer throughout the Raikkonen 2007 title success of Kimi.
The 58-year-old left Ferrari from 2011 to combine Mercedes as engineering manager, and has included another 10 world championships (five drivers’ and five constructors’) for his honours, such as four titles such as Britain’s Lewis Hamilton.

Mercedes team leader Toto Wolff added:”Aldo has been among the pillars of our team as he joined in 2011 and that he now leaves us with the identical faith and professionalism that have characterised his years .
“His new job using Dallara is a wonderful opportunity and I am delighted he has found this a rewarding role in which to pursue his livelihood and to contribute his knowledge to almost every amount of international motorsport.”
Dallara have a motorsport legacy that is wealthy, and are currently involved with the building of automobiles from Formula Three, Formula 2 and IndyCar. Costa will start work for them at 2020.
