The good news for the Panthers is that kicker Joey Slye has been shown to be a viable replacement for Gano. Slye was including three from 50-plus yards. His only miss came on a blocked field goal in last night win against the Steelers.
When the Panthers want to attract Gano back at any stage later in the calendar year, they will have to have to hold him onto their first roster, so keeping two kickers and then put him on injured reserve. He would be out for the season if they place him on injured reserve now.
