Rory Burns has become experience that is excellent, it does not get difficult than at an Ashes series and he’s doing fine. He’s scored a couple of fifties batting and a century in the toughest position against a quality attack.
It was a pity that he didn’t get a hundred because I think he is working it out than he was at the start and he’ll probably be a far better player. I believe England have solved one conundrum in their opening batsmen, they had two and I believe they’ve got among them.
He should be nailed on for the winter excursions now. He’s a participant, where he scores runs he understands and he looks a player because he was studied by Australia with the ball.
Pat Cummins is the No 1 bowler on the planet and he gave him a functioning over but Burns found a way to survive and score runs, he can be delighted with what he has done so far. He appears a man, no opener that is nonsense.
For Joe Root, coming up from top-class bowling, he had to use all his ability. A blow in the midriff felled him and he then gets smacked about the knee. You’ve got to make it through these difficult times, and it was tough on the market.
I believed that partnership between Root and Burns had been really good for England. Root fell for 71 but it was a very hard-fought 71 before Josh Hazlewood got him lbw with one which nipped back and kept a little bit low again. There is sufficient in this pitch to the bowlers but – and it’s a big however – bend your back, you’ve to put the effort in and reach the pitch – that’s what Australia really do.
Hazlewood and cummins offer you nothing. They function to a strategy and in this series that is around and about off stump to stay disciplined and use the bouncer efficiently. Another thing which the direction will be looking at is that their pace is up there all the time.

Cummins was excellent without taking the wickets after which Hazlewood followed brilliantly with those three wickets in the evening session.
They will have wanted to use Mitchell Starc because of jolt bowler but since they just have four bowlers, he will have to share the load as well. But we saw that he is going to provide some free deliveries to you and they want to utilize him in bursts with extra speed. He’s very tall but he gives Nathan Lyon that tough to utilize against the right-handers of England.
The off-spinner just didn’t bowl daily three, though. Some deliveries that were excellent bowled plus it constantly spins here at Old Trafford.
England can’t rely on this being the situation tomorrow. Jonny Bairstow stated they have to wear the Australia bowlers and they did this at the past innings at Headingley, they’ve got to continue this. Root and burns failed but there were alarm bells if they went quickly.
Now Bairstow and Ben Stokes are now in although jason Roy came in under pressure, produced a start but couldn’t kick on and England are still 297 runs behind – that’s a whole good deal! They got a great deal of work to do and they won’t be saved by the rain the forecast for the next couple of days is great.
