As Janine Beckie opener was cancelled out by a goal, manchester City had to settle for a draw in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Atletico Madrid.
Canada’s Beckie had pounced on Keira Walsh to put City ahead, six minutes later the Elena Linari of Atletico struck the crossbar.
City appeared to be in hands before the ship was rocked by the 80th-minute equaliser of Charlyn Corral.
The next leg will be performed in Madrid on Wednesday, 30 following City traveling to rivals Manchester United and Arsenal respectively.
Atletico must have taken the lead after six minutes when England ahead Toni Duggan, returning to some club, could only blast over the bar from five metres out.
Beckie showed minutes after, after Duggan failed to take her opportunity in front of the home fans, who had chanted her name prior to kick-off.
Atletico then dominated most of their possession prior to the break but City were a hazard over the counter-attack, together with Lauren Hemp getting into good positions in the left.
It was Hemp who generated the opening chance of the game – lifting it into Tessa Wullaert, that headed over the bar .
But Ludmila Da Silva beat for pace Gemma Bonner and could bring her down.
Linari took great advantage of the – forcing a save.
City had plenty of chances to double their lead to Jill Scott and Hemp causing a nuisance from the box, especially in the second half.
However, Roebuck had to be watchful when her pace to break away down the right was used by Da Silva and it was the Brazilian who created the equaliser, beating Demi Stokes on the byeline before cutting the ball back for an Corral to slot home.
It silenced the majority of those 1,219 fans in attendance – that a comparatively low crowd for such an expected tie.
The result leaves the tie since City face a visit to Madrid against the team that knocked them out at the last 32 of the contest.
